Northwest National Show Horse Yearling Jackpot Rules - 2006

Please read before you bid.  Once you have bid, please mail a signed copy to:

Before you Bid    Bidding    Deadlines    Winning Bidder    Disputes    Stallion Owners    Jackpot Competition

1.  Before you Bid:

1.1  Contact the Stallion Owner about any questions especially ask if there are other fees and restrictions.  Each potential bidder will be responsible for contacting the stallion owners regarding any handling fees or breeding restrictions.  Example: Breeding restricted to Arabian mares only, Handling Fees, Booking Fees, etc.

1.2  Prior to bidding, bidders must be assigned a bidder number except for mail in bids which will be accepted without a bidder number.   Official bidding cards may be obtained on request from the Yearling Jackpot committee

1.3  The breedings that has been donated by the Stallion owners is to be used the following year, i.e. if breeding won in 2006, then mare is bred in 2007.  However, should a winning bidder request to use the winning breeding the same year won the following exceptions would apply - (1) Require Stallion Owners approval and (2) The mare owner agrees that the resulting foal will not be eligible to compete in any NWNSHA Jackpot Class. (Amended-5Jun04)

2.  Bidding:

2.1  Bidders may submit silent bids at any time after the publication of available stallions for that year and up to the final closing designated by the Yearling Jackpot committee.

2.2  In the Silent Auction for stallions services, bids ,for all stallions in the program,  will start at 40% of the 2006 Advertised Stallion Breeding Fee. (amended 2 Dec 05)

2.3  Bidding is for the stud fee service only.   Bidders are responsible for any additional fees required by the stallion owner, such as handling fees, collection fees, mare care, etc.

2.3.1  Stallion owners requesting Booking/Handling Fees will be deducted from the final winning bid and paid directly to the Stallion Owner.  The Final winning bid, less Booking/Handling Fees, will be the dollar amount added to 2009 Jackpot total. (amended Dec 6, 2005)

2.4  Stallion services not sold at the District VIII Championships will be offered for sale via mail in bids at  50% of the stallions 2006 advertised stud fee to the general public through January 31st, 2007.

2.5  Stallion owners may purchase their own stallions's breeding after the 2005 District VIII Championships through January 31st 2007.  The Stallion owner will them be eligible to enter 2 yearlings in the 2009 Jackpot Competition.

3.  Bidding Deadlines:

3.1  Mail-in bids  and faxes for the Silent Auction must be postmarked no later than June 1st.

3.2  E-Mail bids accepted with a date stamp of up to 9 pm PST on the last Saturday of the  District VIII Championships show in June. (2006 - Jun 10).  All email bids received with date stamp after 9pm will not be eligible.

3.3  In person at the Show bids accepted up to 9pm PST on the last last Saturday of the  District VIII Championships show in June.

3.4  The Jackpot Committee reserves the right to announce any of the final winning bidders no later than 2pm PST on the last Sunday of the District VIII Championships show in June to ensure accuracy.

4.  Winning Bidder:

4.1  The closing of the bidding and announcement of successful bidders will take place at the District VIII Championship show.

4.2  Bidders may or may not attend.
 

bullet

4.3  Upon closing the bids, the highest bid for each stallion will prevail.

4.4  Winning bids are to be paid in full within 7 working days or forfeit to the second highest bidder.  A written agreement can be made with the NWNSHA to pay one-half down at the close of bidding (bidder has 7 working days to send a check or money order to NWNSHA Treasurer) and the balance on or before October 31st.   Bidder will receive a letter of confirmation along with remaining balance due once initial payment is received.  Should the winning bidder default on the initial payment or balance due, the next highest bidder will be contacted. (Amended 6Jun04)

4.5  Stallion owners and winning bidders must complete and submit the Mare Declaration Form to the NWNSHA Jackpot Committee either by email or postal mail or fax no later than January 31, 2007.

4.6  The designated mare as named by the stallion service buyer and/or stallion owner in each case must be owned or properly leased by the stallion service buyer and/or stallion owner at the time of breeding.

4.7  Designated mares and foals in each instance resulting from the designated matings can be sold by the stallion service buyer and/or the stallion owner, with all jackpot rights transferred to the new owner.  The NWNSHA Jackpot Committee must be notified in writing either by email, postal mail, or fax within 30 days following the transfer of ownership.

4.8  If a licensed veterinarian declares the designated mare to be permanently barren, the designation may be transferred to another mare, following written application and submission of veterinarian documentation to the NWNSHA Jackpot Committee. However, participation in the program as the result of the service purchase in 2006, shall not extend beyond 2010.

4.9  The Jackpot allows for only one additional breeding year should a live foal not be obtained.  The foal produced from the following year's breeding will participate in the next consecutive year's jackpot and monies paid out for that breeding will be transferred with the yearling shown. All documentation MUST be submitted to the Jackpot committee in a timely manner in order for this "additional yearling" to be eligible.
 

5.  Bidding Disputes:

5.1  Any biding disputes will be resolved by the NWNSHA Jackpot Committee.

6.  Stallion Owners:

6.1  Stallion owners may purchase their own breeding if their breeding has not sold, after the District VIII Championships through January 31st.

6.2  Each stallion owner participating in the Jackpot (if the breeding is sold) will be permitted to place one foal in the Jackpot competition. High bidders for each stallion's service shall also be permitted to place one foal in the Jackpot competition.

6.3  The stallion owner may, if he/she desires, outbid other bidders during the Silent Auction for his/ her stallion's services and thus place two offspring in competition.

6.4  The stallion owner agrees that in the event the mare designated by the stallion service buyer or the stallion owner does not bear a live foal to compete as a yearling in the 2009 Jackpot competition as testified to by a licensed veterinarian, the mare designation will carry over to the 2010 competition at no additional fee.  Howver Jackpot Winning Bid for the Breeding fee will remain a part of the 2009 Jackpot Competition.

6.5  A substitute stallion may be provided by the stallion owner as long as the Jackpot committee is notified of the change. In order for the resulting yearling to be shown for the Jackpot money, however, that substitute MUST be a jackpot stallion.

6.6  Stallion owner agrees to provide the NWNSHA Jackpot with a breeding contract (if applicable)
prior to Districts.

7.  Jackpot Competition:

7.1  Jackpot prize money will consist of 100 percent of the money raised through the Silent Auction (less administration costs and cost of awards) for the stallion's services.

7.2  Jackpot Foals will be shown as YEARLINGS during the Jackpot Competition Class held in June in Puyallup, WA.  To be eligible to compete in the Jackpot Class each yearling must registered with the National Show Horse Registry OR as a Half Arabian with the Arabian Horse Association.

7.3  Jackpot competition for foals of designated mares bred in 2007 will be held at the 2009 District
VIII Championships with one class, combining sexes, unless participation warrants splitting the class by sex. There shall be no entry fee for the competition.

7.4  District VIII Championship judges will judge the Jackpot class. Eligible foals must be registered
with the National Show Horse Registry or a registered as a Half Arabian at the time of Jackpot competition.

 7.5  Jackpotted money from the silent Auction shall be paid as follows (depends on the number of competitors) (Amended- 6 Jun 08)

bullet For 3 competitors:
bullet 1st= 52%
bullet 2nd= 31.5%
bullet3rd= 16.5 %
bullet For 2 competitors:
bullet 1st= 60.5%
bullet2nd= 39.5%
bullet For 1 competitor:
bullet1st= 100%

 7.6  Each NSH yearling competing in the 2009 Jackpot will receive a special NSH Neck Ribbon donated by the NWNSHA. (Amended- 15 Feb 05)

7.7  Jackpot Payout Checks will be mailed to winners after July 1.  (Amend-6 Jun 08)
 


      I, the successful bidder,  agree to hold harmless the Northwest National Show Horse club its Officers and employees from any disputes arising from this agreement.
