News:
At
their November, 2003 meeting, the NSHR Board of Directors voted to add
three Arabian and six Open classes to the 2004 NSHR Finals. Arabian
Country, English and Park classes will be offered and will be held in
accordance with NSHR rules. The following classes will also be offered
for all breeds: Pleasure Driving, English Pleasure, Five Gaited, Three
Gaited, Fine Harness and Country. "We want to showcase the National Show
Horse to as many people as possible and what better place to do so than at
National Show Horse Finals," offered Cindy Clinton, NSHR Board Member and
Show Manager for 2004. "Finals is a fun show and we want trainers from all
breeds to come and experience the atmosphere and competition that Finals
has become famous for," Ms. Clinton said. The 2004 National Show Horse
Finals are scheduled for September 22-25 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds
in Springfield, Illinois. Prize lists will be available in May, 2004 and
will be available on the NSHR's website www.nshregistry.org. Visit the
NSHR's website for further show updates throughout the year.
National
Show Horse Registry Changes Membership Year
At their November, 2003
meeting, the NSHR Board of Directors voted to change its membership year
from April 1 - March 31 to October 1 - September 30. The change was
adopted to align the Registry’s membership year with the show season.
Memberships received after November 1, 2003 will expire on September
30, 2004. Memberships that are scheduled to expire on March 31, 2004
must be renewed and will expire on September 30, 2004. While the term of
renewing memberships will be shorter than one year, these members will
continue to receive the NSHR publication, National Show Horse and any
other mailings as if their membership had not expired. Memberships
received after July 1, 2004 will carry forward into the 2005/2006
membership year and will expire on September 30, 2005.
National Show Horse Registry News
For Immediate Release 17 Jun 03
The National Show Horse Registry Board of Directors approved three
new changes during a telephonic Board meeting on May 19, 2003. The
first change was to extend the deadline for the Anniversary
Registration Special, which was slated to end on May 11th of 2003.
The Board voted unanimously to extend the deadline to December 31,
2003. This program has proven to be truly beneficial to both the
owners and breeders of NSHs, as well as the NSHR itself. Many older
NSHs have now been registered, because of the special that wouldn't
previously have been registered, due to the increased cost of
registering older NSHs. This has produced significant savings for
the owners of these newly registered NSHs, while at the same time
increasing the numbers of actively showing and/or breeding NSHs.
The second change was an alteration to the rule that required that
horses born prior to a stallion's Lifetime Nomination were subject
to the rules and fees governing Individual Progeny Nominated
stallions. Effective immediately, all eligible NSH get, sired by
Lifetime Nominated Sires that were born previous to their nomination
as Lifetime Sires, may now be registered for the same fee as other
get sired by Lifetime Nominated Sires. This results in at least a
$250 savings for those who take advantage of the Anniversary
Special, and potentially more savings for those who wait to register
these eligible get after the Anniversary Registration Special is
over.
The last and most significant change involved a restructuring of the
fee schedule for registration of eligible NSHs. To reward those who
register their NSH foals early, registration fees have been dropped
from $250 to $200 for those foals sired by Lifetime Nominated Sires,
and $400 (versus $500) for Individual Progeny Nominated Sire
offspring. To take advantage of this lower fee, the registration
application must be submitted to the NSHR anytime between the birth
of the foal and up to three months of age. The fees increase to $250
for Lifetime Nominated Sire get, or $500 for Individual Progeny
Nominated Sire get, when the NSH foal is between three months and up
to six months of age. For eligible NSH get that are between six
months and up to 12 months of age, the fee will be $350 for Lifetime
Nominated Sire get or $700 for the Individual Progeny Nominated Sire
get. For eligible NSH get that are twelve months and older, the
registration fee will be $500 for Lifetime Nominated Sire get and
$1,000 for Individual Progeny Nominated Sire get. This represents a
50% decrease in the cost to register older eligible NSHs (down from
$1,000 for Lifetime Nominated Sire get and $2,000 for Individual
Progeny Nominated Sire get). The new fee structure will take effect
January 1, 2004. For foals that are born in 2003, the Registry will
still honor the January 15th cut-off date to register these foals
for $250 or $500, depending upon which category they are eligible
for. For more information contact the National Show Horse Registry,

Effective immediately, horses of the Arabian/Saddlebred
cross, sired by NSHR Lifetime Nominated sires, may now be registered
with the NSHR for a fee of $250, regardless of the horse's age.
Previously, horses registered after January 15th of the year following
birth were eligible for registration at fees between $500 and $1,000.
Also effective immediately, horses of the
Arabian/Saddlebred cross, not sired by NSHR Lifetime Nominated sires,
may be registered with the NSHR for a fee of $500 regardless of the
horse's age. Horse owners also faced higher registration fees if
registered after January 15th of the year following birth;
registration fees for these horses ranged between $1,000 and $2,000
per registration.
